Sophia by Frances Poet

SOPHIA by Frances Poet was presented by The Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh and Pitlochry Festival Theatre in association with Naked Productions Ltd as part of their Sound Stage season 2021.

Sophia tells the the true story of Sophia Jex-Blake and the Edinburgh Seven, who fought sexism in the university to become the first women to be able to study medicine and become working doctors.

Frances Poet is a Scottish playwright whose recent works include Fibres, Gut (winner of the Writers Guild Best Play Award), and the multi-award winning Adam.

Sound Stage is an audio-digital platform offering audiences the chance to have an ‘at home theatre experience’ designed by theatre makers and leading audio digital technologists.
