Timberlake was described by The Washington Post as "the doyenne of political theatre,” her 1991 play Our Counry’s Goodreceived six Tony Nominations and in 2016 her play Jefferson’s Garden set in the aftermath of the American Revolution and tackling ideas of freedom and racial dicision at the birth of a Nation, won the Writers Guild of America’s best new play award.
The play was commisioned to conclude the season of Sound Stage. An audio-digital platform offering audiences the chance to have an ‘at home theatre experience’ designed by The Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh and Pitlochry Festival Theatre in association with Naked Productions Ltd.
